What are the most important things to focus on as a new real estate agent? If you’re just starting out or haven’t closed many deals yet, don’t worry! Focusing on the basics will help you build a solid foundation for your career.

I know that starting out in real estate can feel like a lot, but with the right approach, you can set yourself up for success. Here are the key steps to take when you’re just getting started:

1. Prospecting. The first thing you need to do as a new agent is start prospecting. This means dedicating time to reach out to potential clients through phone calls, emails, and text messages. Be proactive in connecting with people, even if you don’t have many clients yet.

2. Time blocking. This involves scheduling specific blocks of time to focus on different aspects of your work, such as prospecting, client follow-ups, and other administrative tasks. With a clear plan, you’ll be able to stay focused and organized, making the most of your time each day.

3. Consistency. Consistency is key when starting out in real estate. Without it, your business may fluctuate up and down, making it difficult to see progress. By staying consistent in your efforts, whether it’s prospecting or following your time-blocked schedule, you’ll create a reliable routine that helps you stay on track and achieve your goals.

4. Leverage a structured team. If you’re part of a real estate team, make the most of the support and structure they offer. A structured team can help you by providing a database of potential clients to reach out to, giving you a head start on building your client list.

5. Expand your client base beyond family. While it’s okay to let your family and friends know you’re in real estate, relying solely on them for business won’t be enough. It’s important to cast a wider net and tap into a larger pool of potential clients to ensure a steady flow of opportunities.
